The whatsApp, has really pulled up its socks in its fight against the spread of fake news. From limiting forwarded messages to working on a feature that would verify messages, WhatsApp is doing it all to stop fake news from being circulated on its platform. The messaging app recently launched a chatbot called the IFCN chatbot to curb the spread of misinformation.




The IFCN chatbot on WhatsApp will enable citizens from all over the world to verify whether the message that they received about COVID-19 is true or not. Using the chatbot, the users can see whether that piece of information has been rated false by the professional fact-checker.




Hundreds of millions of users rely on WhatsApp to stay in touch with their friends and families every day. Since bad actors use every single platform to disseminate falsehoods, to mislead others during such troubling times, fact-checkers’ work is more important than ever.




Here’s how users can activate the IFCN chatbot

Save the number +1 (727) 2912606 and send a text “Hi” from WhatsApp to launch the chatbot.

The other way of launching the chatbot is by simply clicking on poy.nu/ifcnbot to get started.

The chatbot is currently available in the English language only but it will soon be available in Hindi, Spanish and other languages.

India Tells Banks to Migrate ATMs From Windows XP.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has notified all local financial institutions to exchange the operating system of the ATMs that still run Windows XP. They will be subject to regulatory sanctions if they do not meet the deadline – by June 2019. The Bleeping Computer obtained a copy of the notification sent by the RBI. Banks will have to implement some security measures before replacing Windows XP with another newer system. In the first phase, which lasts until August 2018, banks should implement password in the BIOS of ATMs; disable USB ports; apply the latest security patches, and limit the access time of administrators. In the second phase, which runs until March 2019, institutions will have to take steps to prevent card cloning and will apply whitelisting to release critical access only to certain users. Whatsapp can start showing ads soon. As per the reports, it is said that Whatsapp’s parent company Facebook has decided not to put ads on the app. Whatsapp has billions of users around the world. Facebook has not planned completely to show advertisements on Whatsapp. The networking giant suspended the push to bring ads to avoid “antagonising regulators.” As per the reports mentioned, how the advertising model will be performed is the Facebook can use the phone numbers as determines to “match” Whatsapp and Facebook accounts and then it will show ads to the targeted users.
